Seattle Resume Writers

If you’re trying to land a job in Seattle’s tough job market, you need a killer resume. Unfortunately, there are a whole bunch of Seattle resume writers who say they’ll give you that killer resume, but deliver a lot less. These writers have no incentive to spend a long time making each resume unique, and they’ll stuff your skills and qualifications into a standard format. Your resume will look like everyone else’s, and you won’t stand out at all. Wasn’t standing out the reason you wanted to re-write your resume in the first place?

Finding a balance between standing out from the crowd and still fitting a common format is a difficult balancing act. You need to be individual enough to be remembered, but not so individual you buck the system and look insubordinate. This may seem like a good reason to find someone who specializes in resumes, but it is not. There are only so many ways to format a resume, and resume writers use similar templates for every one of their customers. You will create a far better, more unique resume yourself than you would by using a resume writer’s template.

Seattle resume writers will take your information and fit it into a standard resume template. They may do a little reformatting, but you’ll end up a similar looking resume to hundreds of other folks with similar skills and qualifications. That doesn’t really sound like standing out. Frankly, you can find templates online that look very similar to those resume writers use. So, layout and template-wise, you’re not really gaining anything by hiring a resume writer.

So where do resume writers get their words from? That’s right, you give them the words! They do little more than take dictation, as you tell them about your work and education history. If you need to talk to someone to sort out your work and education history, find a friend or relative who’ll help. Don’t waste money paying someone to sit down while you dictate. Resume writers only write what you tell them. You’re paying them to type your words into a computer, and that’s definitely a skill you learned in college.

Every time you apply for a job, you need an updated resume. Do you really want to pay someone to update your resume every time you need to? What if you want to move out of Seattle, are you going to find someone else to do it then? You’ll pay a lot of money for minor changes, and you’ll have to wait weeks for the resume writer to rewrite and return a resume which is, basically, the same as the old one.

Let’s take a look from an employer’s perspective. Employers don’t care about fancy formatting or clever wording. They care about whether you have the skills they’re looking for. This is information you already provided to the writer, and it was information you already had. What is the writer supposed to be doing for you, again?

Instead of investing your money in a resume writing service, invest it in yourself and learn how to write a strong, professional resume. You’ll save money and be able to update it yourself next time you need to apply for a job. After all, even when you use one of Seattle’s resume writers, you’re basically writing it anyway.
